Climbing parks
Alongside the many opportunities there are to undertake interesting and challenging climbing tours, beginners and families with children can equally learn to climb in the Ötztal. You will find the best facilities to do this at the Ötztal climbing parks which offer plenty of routes and the chance to let your enjoyment of climbing run wild.
- Brunau Climbing Park – Oetz
This climbing park located between Brunau and Ambach is particularly well suited to beginners and families. It can be reached by going via a small forest track which leads nearly up to the rock face.
- Oetz Climbing Park
Oetz Climbing Park can be found on the way into the town of Oetz and is particularly popular because of the diversity that it offers. Both beginners and practiced climbers can let off steam on the approx. 30 routes.
- Feelfree Outdoor-Climbing Tower
The adventure centre in Oetz, complete with its 10m high climbing tower, gives you a feeling of limitless freedom and has plenty of space for every climber.
- Hochoetz-Bielefelder Hütte Climbing Park
The hut is located at 2,100m above sea level and boasts a view over the magnificent mountain scenery – you travel up to Hochoetz with the gondola and from there, a walking route (about 20mins) leads up to the Bielefelder Hütte. The climbing park is a short walk away, 80m below the hut, and is especially popular with beginners and families with 14 routes.
- Niederthai
Due to its challenging fixed-rope routes, Niederthai climbing park is better suited to experienced climbers. And with around 80 routes, you are guaranteed variety!
- Engelswand Climbing Park
This climbing park is especially popular with families with children and can be found in Tumpen – Umhausen. Nevertheless, practiced climbers also have the chance to test their abilities as the levels of difficulty ranges from 4 to 8.
- Auplatte Climbing Park
The massive boulder which can be climbed on all sides fascinates everyone who likes climbing. It is mostly slab climbers who can be found on one side of the boulder (south-west facing), but families also really get their money’s worth on a family climbing day-out.
- Astlehn Climbing Park
Located at the edge of the town of Längenfeld is a climbing park with a total of 15 routes with difficulty levels ranging from 6c to 8a+. Practiced climbers can use the climbing park from spring to autumn.
- Nösslach Climbing Park
This climbing park is located between Umhausen and Längenfeld and provides a climbing paradise for experienced climbers in particular (level of difficulty: 5 to 7).
- Oberried
If you drive through Längenfeld you will come to the climbing park at the end of the valley widening on the right hand side after Oberried. The many different routes promise variety, fun and action.
- Amberghütte Climbing Park
You have to be fit to reach the Amberghütte climbing park as before you can start climbing, you must first complete a nearly 1.5hour (brisk) walk. You will however be rewarded with a fabulous climbing park and the chance to enjoy some refreshments and rest at the nearby Amberghütte afterwards.
- Mossalm Climbing Park
In Sölden, drive up to the Gaislachkogelbahn base station and from there, over the bridge towards Moosalm. You will reach the climbing park by the Moosalm after about a 20 minute walk along a forest road. The climbing park is especially family- and beginner friendly and, above all, safe.
- Sölden Leisure Arena Climbing Centre
This climbing centre is right in Sölden town centre. The 25m high granite wall is ideal for all climbers who would like to practice using small handholds on gently overhanging terrain.
