Some hiking tour suggestions for discovering the beauty of nature in Niederthai and surroundings:
Stuibenfall waterfall
The Stuibenfall waterfall near Umhausen is Tyrols' most beautiful and largest waterfall, with water falling from a height of 150 m into the depths, and puts on an amazing colourful show when the sun shines. The waterfall is lit up from May to October until midnight.
Stuibenfall trail - Tyrol award winning trail:
The Stuibenfall is the highest waterfall of the Tyrol, falling down 150 m. The trail starts on the left riverside of the Horlachbach and leads out of the valley. Passing the Gasthof Stuibenfall the trail continues to the old Mill, where you cross the bridge and follow the steep but secure route down to Umhausen (fantastic view onto the waterfall). Walking time to Umhausen approx. 2 hours.
Schweinfurter mountain hut:
The trail leads into the valley, along the brook. Via a slightly steep trail you reach the Larstighof after approx. 1 hour. Continuing the trail deeper into the valley, you reach the Guben-Schweinfurter mountain hut. Walking time: to the Guben-Schweinfurter mountain hut approx. 2 hours.
Narrenkogel (2.309 m):
You start on the steep trail to the Bergle. From here you continue through the forest Hochwald until you reach the forest line. Then along the ridge up to the peak. Walking time: 2 ½ hours
Brand (2.283 m) - for trained mountaineers:
Turn to the right from the Horlachtal and follow the steep trail to the Ennebacher Egg. Passing the resting bench at the Egg the trail leads to the forest's edge over the steep mountain's edge up the steep path to the Brand. Walking time: 2 hours.
